Fun in the sun

We have been busy doing some pretty fun stuff lately. My camera is still MIA, but I have taken some good pictures of the following activities with my sister's camera. She will email them to me and I will be sure to post them here for your viewing pleasure. In the meantime, these pictures I have snatched from the internet will have to do.

Last weekend, my parents rented a 4 bed suite in the Lodge at Strawberry Reservoir. They brought the boat and we had a fabulous weekend. The kids loved riding on the boat (mostly) and we ate and played games. We also had some fires so that ooey gooeyness could be made in the form of S'mores. Mmmmm. Halle was really scared of the boat the first time we decided to take a ride. She sat across from me and we held hands to span the distance. It was very Titanic. Every time the engine would roar or the boat would bounce over someones wake her hand would squeeze tighter. On our second trip out, she didn't need me at all. Jack really wanted to catch a fish, and we tried our hardest, but it wasn't to be. It was a good thing, because Greg really wants to be there when Jack gets his first bite. Greg was still in the hospital for the first night, but the morning of the second day he was released. I drove back down the canyon to fetch him. He bled all the way up the stairs. I hope that everyone else in the lodge just assumed it was fish blood. He stayed in bed the rest of the trip, but I think he really enjoyed not being alone. As an added bonus, I didn't see anyone check his vitals while he was trying to sleep.

On a sad note: I did inadvertently run over a chipmunk. Smashed him flat. Any peanuts inside of him were made into butter. They are suicidal munks there, I am sure of it. As you drive out, slowly I might add, they dart in front of your tire at the last possible moment. I firmly believe they have death wishes. I am trying not to feel bad about the entire incident.

This last weekend we had a marvelous time as well. We had family movie night in the family room on Thursday night. (much cooler than the usual spot of our bedroom.) We popped popcorn and made Kool aid and brought all our blankets and pillows down. The kids chose "Flushed Away" and I chose "The Kite Runner." We all sat and watched Flushed Away and then everyone abandoned me for my movie choice. It was splendid. The cat and I watched it together. (Just the way I like it!)

Saturday we drove to Ogden and left Greg home with my mom. Lori, Jesse, all the kids, and I went to Classic Water slides! Ya Baby! We returned to our childhood, and I am happy to say that they have not changed ANYTHING. Jack LLLLOOOOOVVVEEEESSSS water slides, and after one trip down the Minnow with me, he tackled the Octopus and the Barracuda all by himself. Halle was another story. She didn't really like it. I took her on the Octopus and she got hurt. She didn't really want to try after that. She wanted to sit on the bench wrapped in her towel. When we got back to my parents house she cuddled with her Maca for a few hours and by the time I put her to bed her temp was 101.9. It all made sense after that. Anyway, back to Jack and I. I am not overly wonderful with the laws of Physics. Saturday was a good lesson for me. Apparently (and I learned this myself) the more you weigh, the faster you go. There was a little curve on the big slide. Jack slid around it on his hip. You could see me launch OUT of the tube and then land on my HEAD. There was a little dip on the big slide. Jack smiled when he went down it. I caught air. BIG air. I am unsure of the sound I made when I landed, but it probably wasn't overly pretty. Probably similar to the sound a cow makes when you hit it with a truck. Oh it was fun. It was also fun to watch other people, usually the dads, go down the slides for the first time. They obviously didn't study Physics either. We came back to my parent's, ate pizza, and drove home arriving at 11:30 pm. It was a dandy day.

Fun times were had by all. Even Greg who laid in the recliner and watched the Food Network for hours with my mom.

Ahhhhhhh, good times.
