Halloween

Today was a very long day. It started with an 8:30 am doctors appointment with the Orthopedic Surgeon. Everything went well and we don't need to see him for another 6 weeks. Thanks Jeff for taking Greg to that appointment. I was getting Halle all ready for school in her costume.

I am, heaven help me, Halle's room mother. I told myself after my former experience as the preschool room mother that I should be shot before volunteering for that again. Here I am a short two years later. I am a slow learner. Anyway, I am in charge of creating entertaining, educational, amazing parties. Today I created such a party. We had pumpkin bowling, a monster mash cake walk, ghost windsocks, and made popcorn witch hands. I made a witches brew with ice cubes in the shape of hands. It was a lot of work and a lot of planning. I had another wonderful mom who was willing to help me out and I am very grateful for her willingness. The party was a big success. It was all due to one exceptionally exciting highlight. It went something like this:

First graders: "Who are you??"
Me: "I'm Halle's mom."
First graders: "Did you bring good stuff?"
Me: "Oh yes. We are going to have a good time today."
First graders: "Did you bring candy?"
Me: "Yes!"
First Graders: "Who is that?"
Me: "That's Jack. He's Halles little brother."
First Graders: "Oh. Who is that?"
Me: "That's Halle's dad."
First Graders: "What's......HEY! THAT GUY HAS A ROBOT LEG!!!"
First Graders all in unison: "WOW A ROBOT LEG!!! Bag everything you planned lady and lets ask the robot man all kinds of questions about other robot parts!"

And that's (pretty much) how it went down. I was a big success. After the party we stayed for the Halloween parade. Here is Halle and her teacher. I love her teacher. This is her first year and she is so cute. We lucked out this year.

In fact, the party and parade were so exciting, this is what Jack looked like on the 4 minute ride home.

And after I went around the corner... The brownies did not make it.

Here are the kids before trick or treating. Halle was a black cat and Jack is Obe Wan. (I have no idea how to spell that.) Tori made me dress up and so I was a cat too. My mom made this hat for me when I was like 4, it's amazing it still fits my big head. Greg dressed up as a guy in a wheelchair with only one leg. Jack said it's what happens to you when you cross a Jedi Master. It was fun and aerobic for me. (It's a big wheelchair.)

Happy Halloween everyone!

I bet you are the best room mother ever! You are so creative. You were always inventing games and stuff for us to play when we were at USU.

Fantastic post! You really are the most creative person I know. And I know some creative people. Like my roommate who knocked a hole in the wall because he thought he heard a bobcat in there! That was creative! And so are you.

Very creative!
