>^..^< .....

Someone at my house is pregnant!  And she's not having just one.

I pride myself in being a responsible animal owner.  All of my pets are spayed (because they are all girls) and when this cat was dropped in my lap I fully intended to have her spayed too.  She even had an appointment with the van that comes around.  Only one problem.  She got out of the house and got ran over a few days before that appointment.  And they won't do the surgery on a cat with open wounds.  Perfect.  By the time they healed completely, guess what?

Oh yes.  She was found literally shacked up with a huge grey tom cat.  In the shed next door.  She came home and I had my suspicions.  I pretty much knew when Jack found her "spots" on her belly.
Halle told him  "Jack, those aren't spots!  That's where the cat milk comes out."

Indeed, Halle.

I knew for sure, for sure when I could place my hand on her tummy and feel them move.

That's when I told Greg.  He is unamused...to say the least.

The kids and I are quite excited.  For five years Halle has asked for a baby in every prayer she's uttered, and now we are getting them.  Not exactly the way we had hoped for, but you have to see the positive!  We know we have to give them all away, and we know we'll be sad and wish we could keep them.  But we can't.

So every day I spend time with her.  I rub her spine and scratch her ears.  I rub that huge, hard, stomach.

I feel for her.

I know it's hard to see, but she's huge.  Sitting is no longer an option for her.  She either stands up, or lays down.
She is so full of kittens she can't even run.  She waddles.

Everytime I go into the bathroom she joins me.  I ask her how she's doing, and she looks at me with sheer misery in her green eyes.  I encourage her the best I can.  You know, considering she doesn't speak English.

She is a small cat, not quite a year old, and I think she's too small to be doing this.

But she didn't consult me.

So the nightly labor checks continue.  I made her a nest and everyone at work is betting on how many are actually in there, and if she'll deliver in the nest I made- or some completely inappropriate place.

Any advice for me?

Anyone want a kitten?  They will be ready to go home in November.  I'm sure they'll be cute!

Anyone?

Anyone?
