Be still my heart.
I know that other families only have birthday parties on certain birthdays, but we always have parties. Mostly because it's only fun to celebrate your birthday for so long, then it becomes not as big of a deal. Plus I only have the two kids....so.....we will party!
We had said party at the park. We ate pizza, ice blocked, had cupcakes and played games.
They ate 5 pizzas- not surprised
They are all the cupcakes- not surprised
They drank all the soda- no surprised
They wandered around like a gang exploring- not surprised
They were very interested in 'Where are the girls'- SURPISED!
I let Halle invite a friend and she chose the lovely Aly. Those girls are so cute that I shouldn't have been surprised that the 6th grade boys were crushing on them.....even though these girls are 8th graders.
I begged for a group picture. But gone are the years when they don't know the mom and are still intimidated by her and do everything she says in a quiet respectful way. No, we all know each other and it was slight chaos. And 11/12 year old boys are SO over group birthday party pictures. I had to FIGHT for these! These are what I refer to as "Lord of the Flies" pictures.
It was a great party, they are fantastic boys. We had a really good time. Later that weekend we celebrated Jack and Grandpa's birthday. I LOVE this series of pics where my dad is blowing out his candle and Jack is amused.
Glad my old Daddy-O can still blow out a candle at 70 years of age!!!!
Happy birthday my sweet boy! I hope your 12th year will be the best one yet!
